Drawing inspiration from Innana, the ancient Sumerian goddess of sensuality, fertility, love and war, at it’s core Get Up is a song about femininity, equality and having the strength to rise up in the face of adversity.
Gabby’s voice rolls in and out of the beats, softly sung with a strong message. Sampled vocals help lift the song to another level, giving more weight to the overall composition.
Visually, the beautifully directed video unfolds, our heroine escaping from her shackles in the underworld to become a stronger person, like a phoenix rising from the flames.
