Now, I am an old raver at heart, with artists such as The Prodigy and Altern-8 playing a big part in shaping my musical tastes. And although i’ve not really listened to rave in many, many years it did influence my tastes as I discovered progressive rock through finding Hawkwind – a band that felt like they were the origins of the music I loved. So I was really looking forward to Ozric Tentacles, another band I enjoy who I feel embody a similar spirit with their synth-driven prog goodness fused with textural guitars and tribal rhythms to fantastic effect. For me, this was another highlight of my weekend – bringing together the old with the new to create something beautifully mind-expanding.
